Every one of our cleaners is vetted through a multi-step hiring process, follows our golden rules on every job, and is held accountable for the quality of their work. Our cleaners take great care in your home, but on rare occasions accidents can happen. Here’s how we handle them:

If our cleaner accidentally breaks or damages something during a clean, we ask that you let us know within 48 hours of the service so we can investigate. Most issues can be resolved through repair, replacement, or fair-value reimbursement, depending on the item.

A few things to know:

• Please secure valuables and irreplaceable items. We recommend storing heirlooms, fragile collectibles, jewelry, cash, and one-of-a-kind items in a safe place before your clean. We’re unable to take responsibility for items of significant sentimental or unverifiable monetary value.
• Pre-existing damage and wear-and-tear (loose fixtures, cracked tiles, unstable furniture, worn finishes) are not covered. If something breaks because it was already compromised, we’ll let you know what we found.
• High-value items over $200 should be flagged to us in advance so we can take extra care or skip cleaning them entirely.
• Reports made more than 48 hours after the clean cannot be honored, as we have no way to verify what happened during versus after the service.

If you believe something has been lost, please check the home thoroughly first — items often turn up in unexpected places. If you still believe an item is missing after a thorough search, contact us within 48 hours and we’ll work with you to investigate.

Our cleaners are independent contractors who carry their own insurance, and Bear Brothers carries general liability insurance to cover legitimate damage claims. To report an issue, just call or text us at 256-633-6332 and we’ll take care of it.

You don’t need to be home for the clean itself — most of our customers are at work, running errands, or out enjoying their day while we clean. Just let us know how to access your home (lockbox code, garage code, hidden key, etc.) and we’ll take care of the rest.

However, you do need to be present at the end of the clean for a post-clean walkthrough on any one-time or first-time clean for our Beary Clean Guarantee to apply.

The walkthrough takes just a few minutes. Our cleaner will walk you through the home so you can confirm everything meets your expectations before they leave. This protects both of us — you get to flag anything immediately while the cleaner is still on-site, and we get to make it right on the spot rather than scheduling a re-clean later.

For recurring cleans (after your first clean), walkthroughs are not required. By that point we know your home, your preferences, and your standards — and you’ve established trust with our team.

Our payment process is designed to protect both you and our cleaners — and it works a little differently depending on the type of service.

We place a hold on your card 24 hours before the scheduled clean to confirm funds are available. You won’t be charged at this point — it’s just a temporary hold to ensure everything is ready to go.

First-Time Cleans, Deep Cleans, and Move-In/Move-Out Cleans

Your card is officially charged after one of two things happens:

1. You confirm the clean was successful during the post-clean walkthrough, OR
2. We don’t hear from you within 24-48 hours after the clean is complete (we treat this as your confirmation that everything met your expectations)

This protects you on first-time cleans because if something isn’t right during the walkthrough, we make it right before the charge goes through.

Recurring Cleans

Once you’re an established recurring customer, your card is charged automatically after each completed clean. By that point we know your home and your standards, and the trust has been established — so there’s no need for the post-clean confirmation step.

Payment Security

Please allow for an hour arrival window from the start of your scheduled appointment. Cleaners can occasionally run a few minutes late due to traffic, prior job timing, or weather — the one-hour window builds in flexibility so you don’t need to worry if they aren’t there at the exact minute.

If your cleaner still hasn’t arrived within an hour of your scheduled start time, please call us at 256-633-6332 and we’ll track them down immediately.

We do our best to communicate proactively if a cleaner is running behind, but a quick call is the fastest way to get an answer if you haven’t heard from us.

To keep our cleaners safe and our quality consistent, there are some things we don’t clean. If you have a service that falls into one of these categories, just let us know and we can recommend a specialty provider.

Safety-related exclusions:

• High-to-reach areas (we do not allow ladder use by cleaners)
• Cleaning of chandeliers
• Wet wiping of light bulbs
• Cleaning of biohazards (mold, etc.)
• Animal or human waste (litter, pet messes, bodily fluids)
• Insects, dead rats, mice, or other animals

Outside our scope:

• Hoarding situations or junk removal
• Heavy scrubbing or scraping of walls or floors (wall dusting available upon request)
• Steaming or shampooing of carpets
• Upholstery or furniture cleaning
• Washing of exterior windows
• Unfinished flooring
• Garages
• Outside areas
• Ovens

Best-effort areas:

• If your fridge or cabinets are full, we’ll do our best to clean around your items but cannot empty and reorganize them

If something on this list is essential to your job, let us know during booking — we may be able to make exceptions or refer you to a trusted partner.

Our cleaners are independent contractors who bring their own equipment and supplies to every job. To support consistent quality across all of our cleans, we provide them with a recommended cleaning kit that covers the tools and products needed for a thorough residential clean.

The recommended kit includes:

• Commercial-grade vacuum and handheld vacuum
• Mop and bucket with multiple clean microfiber mop heads
• Microfiber cloths and color-coded bathroom cleaning cloths
• Spray bottles, sponges, and magic erasers
• Multi-purpose cleaner, glass and window cleaner with squeegee
• Toilet cleaner, limescale remover, washing-up liquid
• pH-neutral floor cleaner (surface appropriate)
• Non-scratch scrub pads
• Extension duster for fans, vents, and corners
• Trash grabber and disposable liners
• Step stool rated for household use (no ladder use permitted)
• Cleaning caddy or carry tote
• Rubber gloves, large and small bin bags
• PPE as needed (gloves, masks, eye protection when appropriate)

Because our cleaners are independent contractors, they retain discretion over the specific products and methods they use to complete each job. The recommended kit reflects our standards for quality and safety, but each cleaner brings their own preferred tools and supplies based on their experience.

If you have specific product preferences (e.g., fragrance-free, eco-friendly, pet-safe), let us know during booking and we’ll do our best to match you with a cleaner whose supplies fit your needs.

We ask that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This gives our cleaners time to adjust their schedules and ensures we can offer your time slot to other customers.

Cancellations or reschedules made within 24 hours of your appointment may be subject to a $50 cancellation fee. This fee exists because our cleaners plan their day around your booking — when a job cancels last-minute, they lose income they were counting on.
